Regional Meeting - 03/04/07
Approximately 45-50 exhibitors attended the
CFA Southern Region Regional meeting held March 4 at the Foothill Feline
show held in Simpsonville, NC. I want to thank all the exhibitors and
judges for their participation. An outline of the meeting is below:
1)
The Show Rule Quiz – Show rule
refresher
a)
Clubs own a show date even
when they are not holding a show. FALSE
Clubs should notify their RD and National
Scheduling Chair when they do not plan to hold a show. The date will be
considered “vacant” for the one year only and become available to other
clubs for a one-time only show date. (Rule 12.03e)
b)
Clerks should be paid $80 for
clerking 2 days of a 225 back to back show. TRUE
(Rule 13.05d)
c)
An exhibitor can give away a
kitten at a CFA cat show. FALSE
Cats or kittens may not be given away at CFA
shows by CFA clubs or individuals other than those placed by
incorporated humane associations. (Rule 13.14)
d)
A club must provide an
officiating judge with an emergency or cell phone number during show
hours only. FALSE
Emergency or cell phone numbers must be
provided the day before the show also.

International Division cats in Europe
require 75 points to Grand Champion and 25 points to Grand Premier.
FALSE
ID cats in Europe require the same number of
points to Grand as mainland US. (Rule 9.03b)

An exhibitor can provide a
service to other exhibitors to enter extra cats as a show for the price
of an entry fee + $10.
Is this a violation of any show rule? NO
Is this a right or fair thing? NO
Just because an action does not violate a
rules does not make it the right thing to do.
2)
April 28-28, 2007 Show – Last
Show of the Season
a)
For the past month, exhibitors
have been asking if the Daytona Beach Cat Fanciers would be holding
their traditional show this April.
b)
The Daytona Beach CF will be
unable to hold their April show this year as they could not find a show
hall.
c)
Per Show Rule 12.03e, this
date became “vacant’ for the one year only and is available to a club
for a one time only show.
d)
Using the outstanding list of
clubs with outstanding show date requests, the Regional Director asked
for clubs to volunteer if they were interested in putting on the show.
e)
Space Coast CC and Platinum
Coast CC located a show hall in Clearwater, Florida. With approval from
the National Show Scheduler, the show was approved to move forward to
provide the Southern Region with a show to celebrate the end of the show
season.

June 9-10 Regional Awards Show
a)
Where: Richmond Virginia –
Holiday Inn / Show Place

The Regional Awards Committee
is working furiously to finalize details.

November 17-18 Southern Region
Show
a)
Why not holding a show with
Region 1?
Region 1 and 7 cat fancier density and
distances between Maine and Florida, Debbie Kusy and I felt that one
show in each region provided CFA cat fanciers with better choices.
b)
What?
A single centrally located 450 cat show with
junior showmanship, agility, and breed focus.
c)
Where?
Atlanta seemed a natural choice but was
ruled out since Cotton States CC annual show is only 2 weeks prior to
this date. Southern Region shows in Pensacola, FL; Raleigh, NC; and
Orlando, FL on adjacent weekends were also considered to minimize impact
to these shows. The Charlotte area was selected for it’s central
location and International airport.
d)
Who?
Gina Hargett is the November Regional Show
coordinator. She is currently working to locate a show hall. If you or
